Dolphin Thoughts

Dolphin thoughts
I have so many thoughts, all the time.
When I ask google, google says…
“Racing thoughts associated with anxiety disorder can be caused by many different conditions, such as obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, general anxiety disorder (GAD), or posttraumatic stress disorder.”
But my thoughts aren’t necessarily anxious, they’re just quick and constant!

They’re connected, but they don’t look it…
Them: I read a poem last night. It was beautiful and it made me feel so nostalgic.
Me: That’s cool! Did you know that bees have abstract thought?
Them: What? Could you not change the subject please?
Me: Oh right, sorry…
My thoughts were logical, but i left the topic pretty quickly…

This is how it went…
Them: I read a poem last night. It was beautiful and it made me feel so nostalgic.
Thoughts: poetry is beautiful language
glossomania is beautiful language
psychiatrists call that clanging
clangers are pink mice on the moon
mice have linear hierarchies with a male or female alpha
some people refer to any hierarchy which isn’t male dominated as matriarchal
honeybees are matriarchal
honeybees communicate in complex ways
honeybees can understand the concept of zero
bees have abstract thought
Me: That’s cool! Did you know that bees have abstract thought?

I have several “pods” of thought happening at once, and a lot of it stays under the surface!
And then what I verbalise can sound completely disconnected from the topic at hand.
I don’t mean to go off topic, and often I have to be reminded that I’ve gone off topic, because I feel like I am still on topic!

This is usually fine during general chit-chat! But it can become a problem when:
– I’m supposed to stay on topic, e.g. when a friend needs to talk, or when in a meeting
– I’m writing an essay. I write beautiful essays with (what looks like) absolutely no relevancy to the question.
